Customer Reviews

Good buy
I purchased this directly through Tigerdirect (they appear to be the seller here) as they do not have any shipping costs and it is 50 dollars cheaper (49). The TV looks excellent and the picture quality is good on most channels. I also purchased this with the Samsung TR46X3 silver stand which I got from another vendor. THe only annoying thing about the TV is the built in TV Guide Menu which doesn't appear to get updated.

I have only had it a few days, but so far have not had any trouble with the bulb as many other people appear to have had...fingers crossed it stays that way.

Excellent TV
This is an Excellent 56" DLP 1080P TV. You will love it!

The picture is excellent on HD signals from over the air (antenna). 480P DVD's are Very Good. Standard definition signals from over the air vary from poor to very good. Pixilation and blury picture show up with low grade signals. Good signals viewed either 4:3 or in the Panorama 16:9 mode are noticeably less sharp than HD but very viewable.

Picture takes 15 seconds to appear after turning on from standby mode. Picture at full brightness takes ~ 30 sec after turning on from standby mode.

Have had a little trouble getting Caucasian flesh tones the way I want them. I have done some advanced tuning but have not had a PROFESSIONAL do it.

This 56" TV is installed in a 15' x 15' room. My eyes are 12' from the screen. TV is exactly centered at eye level. Room is bright and has a wall of windows to the left of the TV. TV looks attractive. This 56" TV is a good size for this room. I would not recommend any larger. The 50" would also likely work well.

Sound quality is very good from the in-cabinet speakers. However, bass is not as good as I'd like. There is a subwoofer output connector. Sound loudness from in-cabinet speakers is more than ample. HD sound decoding with optical out to my surround sound system is very good. Sound takes 10 seconds to be heard after turning on the TV from standby mode.

Horizontal viewing angle is advertised as +/- 70 degrees and I agree with that. Very impressive side to side viewing angle. Vertical viewing angle is advertised as +/- 30 degrees. I agree.

On-screen menus are very good. Easy to understand.
On-screen TV guide feature works very well.
Both the TV and TV guide supplied manuals are very good.
Connectivity is EXCELLENT. Many connectors of various types.

TV has control buttons on its cabinet, on the side, so you can control unit without the remote. EXCELLENT.
Antiglare - EXCELLENT.
Lamp cooling fan is silent. I have not heard it yet.

Remote control is good. A few more features on the remote would be nice - like being able to switch PIP and main screen with one button.

PIP could be better. Only a single HD tuner in the cabinet while a second non-HD tuner is supplied to support the PIP. Needs a second HD tuner!

DNIe feature is baffling to me. A supplied DNIe 'demo' mode makes no sense to me. It is not clear to me if DNIe is functioning or not.

So the TV is not perfect, there are a few minor cons. Still, Excellent execution and picture!
